Overview

Are you the subject matter expert when it comes to the ins and outs of all things Fire Alarm? If the answer is yes, you're in luck because we are looking for an experienced Design Engineer that not only knows how to use AutoCAD but knows the parts and smarts behind the design and build of these systems.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Production of coordinated, detailed, and accurate design drawings ready for filing (including verification of quality) in a timely manner
  • Layout plans utilizing AutoCAD program that meets code
  • Assign proper wiring scheme
  • Prepare panels Battery Calculations, Speaker Calculations and Voltage Drop Calculations
  • Layout an organized and accurate Riser Diagram that matches the floor plans, calculations and device counts
  • Print, run copies, distribute shop drawings/close-out documents to different departments/clients as necessary
  • Prepare written reports detailing drawing organization and prioritize scheduling of completion dates cover sheet(s)
  • Scan approved, redlines and as-built drawings for engineering records
  • Organize engineering job folders for easy and faster access of the projects
  • Submit/Deliver/Pick-up plans to/from the job site or clients office, as necessary
  • Perform onsite visits for evaluations and draw accurate floor plans;
  • Coordinate multi-project plan status with sales department, architects, and engineers
  • Attend meetings with clients and project team

 

What You Will Need to Do It:

  • Knowledge/expertise in AutoCAD, 3 years’ experience preferred
  • Familiar with NFPA 72/13 codes, IBC, and local Municipal Codes
  • Knowledge with Edwards, Gamewell-FCI, FIKE, and Silent Knight Systems are a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word and Excel
  • Ability to present a broad design knowledge of working on a wide range of fire,
    suppression and security projects
  • Capable of handling projects from start to finish with high degree of quality
  • Conduct research to resolve engineering plan and design issues, evaluate alternatives, and make sound recommendations
  • Willingness to work as a team combined with the ability to work independently
  • Must have a reliable transportation
  • Ability to follow instructions and have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, multi-tasker, reliable, self-determined
  • Punctual and Responsible
  • PE License and or LEED Certification a Plus

 

Salary Range: $60,000 - $70,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
