The Welder/Fabrication Supervisor is responsible for the overall production in the welding/fabrication department. In addition, this working supervisor will also manage the team, the quality of their work and their productivity. This position is responsible for welding as well as the fabrication of piping and related components and processes by performing the following duties.

You are a hands-on leader with a strong background in fabrication. You thrive in fast-paced environments and excel at managing teams to meet production targets while maintaining high standards of quality and safety. Your attention to detail and problem-solving abilities enable you to quickly address production challenges and identify opportunities for process improvements. You are proactive, adaptable, and able to balance the needs of the team with company goals. Your strong communication and leadership skills allow you to motivate and mentor your team, ensuring that each member contributes to the overall success of the operation.
What You’ll Do:
- Manage assigned manufacturing team members to ensure product quality, efficient work habits and on-time completion of fabrication needs
- Identify, recommend, and implement changes to improve productivity and quality, reduce cost, decrease scrap and product rework. Direct the establishment, implementation and maintenance of production standards. Recommend and initiate improvements to production processes.
- Hire, train, develop, and evaluate staff, setting performance standards. Take corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy. Ensure compliance with current federal, state and local regulations. Consult with Human Resource Department as appropriate.
- Ensure adequate capacity for current production needs and support analysis to ensure future capacity. This includes ensuring adequate cross training so that multiple people can execute critical fabrication procedures thereby reducing downtime.
- Direct and coordinate various programs essential to manufacturing and operations (e.g., safety, inventory control, housekeeping, worker involvement, etc.).
- Work in close collaboration with PM’s to ensure the efficient scheduling of fabrication processes
- Implement, document, and manage manufacturing equipment logs and standard operating procedure practices, which includes ensuring scheduled maintenance is performed on machines to minimize down time.
- Ensure the timely reporting and resolution of production issues with PM’s. Interface with all sprinkler departments to address concerns, work on special projects, and improve efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with all rules and requirements, including but not limited to, safety, health and environmental rules.
- Actively participate in welding and fabrication process as time allows by achieving a work/management balance
What You’ll Need:
- High school diploma or equivalent, associate degree preferred
- Three to five years of experience managing others
- Five years prior welding, pipe fabrication, or other fabrication experience in a manufacturing environment
- Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel
- Demonstrated ability to read engineering drawings
