We have significantly ramped up our mergers and acquisitions (M&A) strategy in recent years to partner with dozens of high-quality teams, and we are looking to add an associate or manager to our small Corporate Development team to support the rapid growth of our organization.
Responsibilities:
The Corporate Development Manager will be a key hire for our organization to help scale our M&A function. This role provides a unique opportunity to work closely with senior management and make a meaningful impact in the company’s continued growth through contributions across all aspects of M&A, including:
- Evaluate potential high-quality companies to join our team within our existing footprint and new geographies
- Assist with M&A sourcing efforts and participate in internal pipeline strategy meetings
- Analyze financial and operating results of prospective targets to evaluate alignment with Encore’s growth strategy and assess valuation
- Lead cross-functional M&A due diligence processes and serve as a key point of contact for sellers and sellers’ advisors
- Effectively manage third-party providers across various functional diligence areas (quality of earnings, tax, insurance, benefits, IT, etc.) to drive coordinated, efficient diligence processes
- Represent Encore in a professional manner with sellers and advisors to further establish the company as the “partner of choice”
- Prepare due diligence packages for presentation to leadership team and private equity sponsor
- Effectively manage, provide on-the-job coaching, and maintain accountability for production of junior team members in diligence and integration workstreams
- Assume responsibility for financial projection models for new M&A partners
- Develop a strong understanding of Encore’s M&A integration processes through on-the-job training with our corporate development team and business leaders
- Provide leadership to cross-functional teams such as accounting/finance, HR, data integrity, sales, and IT to clearly communicate and ensure timely completion of integration initiatives across all functional areas
- Perform other ad-hoc responsibilities as required to support the growth of the organization
Requirements:
To excel in this position, candidates will have the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Marketing or similar field
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of professional experience in Corporate Development, Investment Banking, Consulting, Transaction Advisory, or similar roles
- Proficiency in financial analysis, accounting, modeling, and valuation techniques
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage cross-functional teams across multiple projects simultaneously to meet tight deadlines
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively and build trusted relationships with teammates, business owners, and other stakeholders
- Demonstrated track record of end-to-end M&A transaction execution; M&A integration experience preferred but not required
- High adaptability and ability to thrive in fast-paced work environment
- Experience effectively managing junior team members
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills with a focused attention to detail
- Willingness to “roll up the sleeves” and be a team player
- Outstanding interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Desire to be part of a successful team but able to work independently
- Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to adapt to the situation at hand
- Self-starter who takes initiative and isn’t afraid to ask questions or voice their ideas
- Excellent work ethic with the ability to work under pressure and effectively prioritize duties
- Advanced knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint and above average proficiency with technology
