As we continue to grow, we’re looking for an Operations Manager (In Training) to join our team in Needham, MA. In this role, you’ll work closely with the current Operations Manager and Director as well as other leaders to learn the ins and outs of running a high-performing service operation. This position is designed for someone who is eager to grow into a key leadership role, gaining hands-on experience in financial management, team development, process improvement, and customer success.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Collaborate with the current Operations Manager and Director and fellow managers to establish and achieve financial and operational objectives.
- Support the current Operations Manager and Director in creating accurate monthly forecasts by working closely with Service Managers and their teams.
- Monitor and assess key performance indicators (KPIs) across departments, ensuring backlog integrity, resource optimization, cost control, and alignment with revenue and margin targets.
- Assist the current Operations Manager and Director in evaluating and recommending changes to the service manager structure and organizational chart to facilitate growth.
- Attend weekly department meetings (shared with the Director), identify gaps in forecasts, and provide actionable reports to drive improvement.
- Support the current Operations Manager and Director in technician reviews, identify recruitment needs, and participate in interviews for various roles.
- Oversee deficiency sales personnel in Fire Sprinkler, Alarm, and Suppression, and report any gaps or concerns to the Director.
- Evaluate sales pipelines, monitor KPIs, and ensure that metrics like close rates, days to close, and days to quote are consistently met by the deficiency sales team.
- Supervise the Warehouse Operations Manager to ensure effective support for all departments, improve delivery efficiency, manage inventory, oversee monthly stock purchases, and optimize off-site storage.
- Collaborate with the NNA/SOW team on T&I projects exceeding $25K, ensuring accurate scope of work, pricing, and alignment with company objectives.
- Serve as an escalation point for customer concerns, resolving issues before they escalate to the Director.
- Assist the Director in maintaining and nurturing relationships with strategically important customers.
- Contribute to various non-location-based projects as part of the department's development process, as needed.
What You'll Need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Operations Management, or a related field (preferred).
- 5-10 years of relevant experience, with a minimum of 3 years of direct management experience in a professional setting.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions that enhance efficiency and productivity.
- Excellent organizational skills to prioritize tasks, manage resources efficiently, and meet deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving abilities to tackle challenges ranging from logistical issues to personnel conflicts.
