Encore’s continued success and growth has created a need for a Fire Alarm Inspector working out of our Middletown, CT office. Our Fire Protection Inspectors are responsible for inspecting, testing, and maintaining fire protection systems to ensure compliance with local, state, and national fire safety codes. This role plays a critical part in protecting people, property, and assets from fire hazards by verifying that fire suppression an detection systems are fully operational and code compliant.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Inspecting and troubleshooting fire alarm systems—basic to complex—independently or with limited supervision
- Performing routine inspections following NFPA 72 and all applicable local codes
- Accurately documenting deficiencies and system conditions in ServiceTrade, our digital service platform
- Verifying that alarm panels, notification devices, detectors, and emergency power systems are functioning properly
- Working closely with contractors, building maintenance staff, customers, and your Encore teammates to get the job done
- Identifying compliance issues and recommending improvements or upgrades
- Maintaining a strong work ethic and attention to detail in everything you do
What You'll Need to Do It:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3+ years of hands-on fire alarm industry experience
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Solid understanding of NFPA 72, NEC, Fire Alarm Theory, OSHA regulations, and fire alarm system standards
- Experience with systems from manufacturers like Gamewell-FCI, Siemens, Notifier, Edwards, Simplex, Honeywell, Fire-Lite, and more
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Comfortable working on ladders and lifts
- Physically prepared to walk and stand for periods of time in various facility environments
- Able to travel locally to customer sites daily
- Perform tasks that involve reaching, grasping, and light handling of components and equipment.
- Work may occasionally take place in non-climate-controlled areas, but within standard safety expectations.
- Occasionally kneel, crouch, or reach to access equipment in lower or tighter spaces (like utility rooms or mechanical closets).
