Position Overview:

 

Encore Fire Protection is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Entry Level Information Security Analyst to join our InfoSec team. In this foundational role, you will work under the guidance of the Director of IT Ops & Security to help protect our organization’s computer networks, systems, and end-users. You will assist in monitoring, identifying, and responding to security incidents, supporting the implementation of the best security practices, and contributing to a culture of security awareness across the company.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor security alerts and events using MDR/SIEM tools, escalating potential threats as needed.
  • Assist in incident response activities, including initial investigation, documentation, and communication with affected users.
  • Support vulnerability management by running scans, reviewing reports, and tracking remediation efforts.
  • Help administer security tools and platforms (such as endpoint protection, email filtering, and identity management systems)
  • Participate in audits and compliance activities by gathering evidence and maintaining documentation.
  • Assist with user access reviews and identity and access management tasks, ensuring least privilege principles are enforced
  • Contribute to security awareness initiatives by helping develop training materials and conducting phishing simulations.
  • Document security incidents, processes, and procedures for compliance and audit purposes.
  • Stay current with cybersecurity trends, threats, and best practices through ongoing learning and training.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity concepts, including threat vectors, vulnerabilities, and incident response.
  • Basic understanding of network protocols, operating systems, and security tools (e.g., firewalls, antivirus, intrusion detection/prevention systems).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Internship or hands-on experience in a security-related role.
  • Industry certifications such as CompTIA Security+, GIAC Security Essentials (GSEC), or ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity (CC).
  • Familiarity with any of the following: SIEM platforms, IAM/IDP, Email security gateway platforms, MDR/EDR platforms, etc.
  • Experience with ticketing systems and incident tracking tools.
