Encore Fire Protection is seeking a Kitchen Exhaust Technician to support our commercial kitchen ventilation and exhaust system services. This is a field-based role that offers hands-on, independent work with limited supervision once training is complete.
In this role, you’ll perform essential fire-prevention services within customer facilities, helping reduce fire risk and support the safe operation of commercial kitchen exhaust and ventilation systems. You’ll represent Encore on job sites by delivering quality workmanship, following established procedures, and maintaining a safety-first mindset.
You are responsible for ensuring work is completed safely, cleanly, and in accordance with Encore standards so customers can operate with confidence. Responsibilities include:
· Clean and degrease commercial kitchen exhaust systems, including hoods, ducts, fans, and rooftop components.
· Set up and break down job sites in accordance with Encore standards to ensure safety, cleanliness, and efficiency.
· Perform power washing and detailed cleaning using specialized tools, equipment, and approved techniques.
· Approach all work with a safety-first mindset while working in customer facilities.
· Maintain company vehicles by organizing, inventorying, and stocking tools and supplies.
· Drive company vehicles to and from job sites throughout the assigned territory.
· Complete assigned work efficiently while maintaining quality standards.
· Support team members on job sites to ensure work is completed safely and professionally.
· 2–3 years of experience cleaning commercial kitchen exhaust systems (hoods, ducts, and fans).
· Flexibility to work varying schedules based on customer and operational needs.
· Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
· Ability to lift and carry up to 60 lbs and climb ladders to access all areas of the exhaust system.
· Comfort performing hands-on, physical, technical, and mechanical work.
· Ability to pass initial and ongoing background checks and drug screenings.
· Dependability, professionalism, and the ability to work independently in the field.
What Will Make You Stand Out?
· High school diploma or equivalent; technical or trade coursework is a plus.
· 3+ years of hands-on kitchen exhaust cleaning experience across a variety of commercial kitchens (restaurants, hotels, schools, healthcare, or industrial facilities).
· Leadership experience on job sites (acting as a lead tech, training newer technicians, or coordinating job setup and breakdown).
· Knowledge of kitchen exhaust system requirements and inspection readiness, including familiarity with NFPA 96 expectations.
· Certifications such as IKECA Technician certification (or the ability and willingness to obtain it).
· Safety credentials such as OSHA 10 (or willingness to obtain), and comfort working safely at heights and on rooftops.
